S.
passport applications, which includes reviewing passport applicant information, ensuring applications are completed and submitted correctly and in a timely fashion, answering questions about passport applications, and following up on application issues as needed.
The position will also keep internal and external records of passport applications and activities, following all regulations and requirements established by the Library and the federal government.
Additionally, the position regularly performs all duties of Library Assistant II during passport down times and may be assigned to the following sections:
information services, loan services, collection development, program assistance, community outreach, youth services and/or circulation.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education High School diploma or GED equivalency.
Experience Three years working in a public library at the clerical level or above.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES When assigned to Loan Services Assist the Library Circulation Supervisor with maintaining departmental records and files, compiling overdue material lists and sending notices, training library clerks, scheduling staff, processing new items, and other duties as required.
Assist the public in making the most effective use of the library including handing out program flyers, explaining and demonstrating library policies, procedures and facilities, answering directional questions, enlisting the help of librarians and other information desk staff for higher level questions, and promoting library services.
Operate the circulation desk by checking materials in and out, maintaining statistics of library activity, maintaining accurate patron accounts, compiling reports, assisting patrons in placing reserves on materials, utilizing best practices in excellent patron service, and other duties as required.
When assigned to Information Services Assist librarians with copy cataloging, editing existing bibliographic records, developing and managing print and digital collections, maintaining statistics of library activity, and other duties as required.
Assist the public in making the most effective use of the library including promoting programs and services, performing reader advisory, helping patrons find items, answering research questions, and enlisting the help of circulation staff on account related inquiries.
When assigned to Youth Services Assist the youth services supervisor with conducting programs, creating flyers, promoting activities, keeping the youth services areas organized, and other related duties.
Assist the public in making the most effective use of the library including promoting programs and services, performing reader advisory, helping patrons find items, answering research questions, and enlisting the help of circulation staff on account related inquiries.
When assigned to Technology Services Assist staff and patrons with computer usage, WiFi connectivity, website questions and other related technology issues.
Serve as a liaison alongside the Library Services Manager, between the library, City IT, and technology vendors.
Troubleshoot the integrated library system (ILS), library website, electronic databases, public WiFi, digital collection, and other related systems, implementing updates and/or fixes as required.
OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIES Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to work in a standard library environment; ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and lift up to 20 lbs.
